Become a stem coach

STEM sessions begin in September with new volunteer training in August.

The volunteer commitment is just one night a week – for approximately an hour to an hour and a half – for the 10-week training session. Coaches are also expected to attend the goal 5K and run alongside the participants to support them on race day.

Apply to become a volunteer coach

Who can coach?

Runners of all paces! Participants vary in speed, so all paces are needed. Runners range from 9-minute milers to fast walkers.

Open to all. All gender identities are welcome. Previous coaching experience is not necessary.

Kindness. We're looking for encouraging, compassionate volunteers.

How do I become a coach?

To become a STEM coach, you'll need to:

  • Fill out an application
  • Agree to a criminal background check
  • Attend training in August held online for about 90 minutes where you'll learn about how to work with DV survivors and pick up coaching tips.
